LAGUNA Beach Family session - The Bailey's
If I could only use one word to describe this shoot with the Bailey's, it would be FUN. They tackled each other and cracked jokes, and their joy and laughter were so infectious that my cheeks were hurting at the end of the session from all the smiling I wound up doing! As you can see from their pictures, the whole session was just an outpouring of love. It truly was a pleasure to spend an afternoon with these guys and share in some of their happiness.

To be quite honest, very little compares to seeing first-time parents interacting with their newborn child. There's a certain nervous energy mixed in with love and pride as they figure out the best way to pose and hold their baby. It makes me really appreciate the fragility of the moment, the softness in their movements, and the glow of the parents' faces. I love the way they can't stop smiling despite their obvious exhaustion. I believe this delicate stillness in these seconds is where you find the true meaning of peace.
I have known Mr. Wilson for over a decade, and I can honestly say that he has always been a respectable and upstanding individual, filling the world with positive energy. But, it was until our family session that I got to know a different, gentler side of him. Seeing Deshawn and his young daughters chasing each other around the park was incredible and so heart-warming. There was a softness to his smile that I hadn't noticed before. It's one thing to know a man when he's "with the guys", but there was something magical in seeing him with his girls.
Nestor and Ashley are two amazing, god-loving parents whose love towards their bundle of joy knows no bounds. When I arrived on the scene, little Lilly was schooling her 'rents at peekaboo. She eyed me cautiously as I approached, but once she realized I was in good graces with her parents, she became my new bff! I absolutely love seeing those big, curious eyes and that slow-spreading smile as she recognizes me. It just melts my heart!
What high school senior do you know that gets the opportunity to travel clear across the country for his/her senior session? Well, this guy is definitely the coolest one I've met thus far, and he is probably the most well-read high school seniors I've had an opportunity to chat with. He said he didn't want the normal senior session. Instead, he requested street photography with a hipster twist. I laughed and asked if he was capable of delivering the necessary swagger to fulfill such a request!? Check out his gallery to find out!
Spring 2016
This young lady was likely the shyest little thing I have ever met. We began chatting about her interests and colleges she was considering, and sure enough, it wasn't much longer before she shared with me one of the most radiant smiles I have ever received. We kicked off our session on this beautiful island in Downtown Detroit (it brags one of the most breath-taking views of the Detroit skyline) and ended in this super cool alley where some of the most talented artist have painted over 50 ft of murals of pure awesomeness. Detroit has such a stunning downtown!

Bridal Shower with a pastel personality
Ava's bridal shower was absolutely beautiful. As cliché as that may come across, I've wracked my brain trying to find better words for it, but I keep coming back to "beautiful". There's the obvious beauty in the weather, the home and decor, and the bride-to-be and her family, but what really made the day really stick out for me was the beauty in the relationships. The unadulterated love that everyone had for each other. You take all of this and wrap it in gorgeous SoCal sunshine, a hint of ocean in the air, and lovely pastel colors, and you'll have for yourself a beautiful slice of happiness.
